Center Stage is bringing the Grammy Award winning Canadian Brass Quintet to the Bryan Fine Arts building. You may have seen Canadian Brass featured on The Tonight Show, Today or Entertainment Tonight, and now you have the opportunity to see them live at 7:30 p.m., March 16, in the Wattenbarger Auditorium.
“This is the biggest name we could possibly bring,” assistant professor of trombone, Joshua Hauser said.
“Each year, Center Stage Concert Series tries to bring in one or two major acts; groups that we think are valuable to the students,” Hauser said. “This is a major act.”
The show is free to Tech students as well as the public. Students can currently pick up one ticket per ID between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the information desk in the RUC. The tickets will be available for the public beginning Monday, March 9.
However, the tickets will not guarantee a seat. Early seating begins at 7 p.m. for those with tickets. Open seating will begin at 7:20 p.m., on a space available basis.
Before the performance, Center Stage will hold a meet and greet with Canadian Brass from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The concert’s program, although subject to change, includes selections from Bach, Vivaldi and Glenn Miller among several others. Canadian Brass will also be performing selections from their album, “High Society.” CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase at the concert.
“From early traditional classical pieces to theatrical opera performances,” Hauser said. “Canadian Brass is the best at what they do.
“People need to be at this concert.
