The Fitness Center will soon be offering two new classes: Beginner Pilates and High Hips.Beginner Pilates is a three week Monday night series from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on November 2, 9, and 16 in Fitness Center in Room 216. The cost is $12 for students, $15 for members, and $30 for guests.
Petti Groth is a certified pilates instructor for Beginner Pilates. This class improves posture, breathing, and core strength.
“You get out what you put in,” Ramona Pennington, health promotions coordinator, said.
This class was formed, because there were many requests made.
“My job is to educate the campus so that they can continue to exercise properly when they leave Tech,” Pennington explained.
High Hips is a fitness class that introduces you to the art of belly dancing. High Hips is scheduled from 1p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for two Saturdays on September 26 and October 10 in Fitness Center Room 222. These sessions are free to everyone who is willing to learn.
Elysia Spreeman, a Tech student, will be teaching High Hips. This class strengthens the entire body while having fun. It also raises confidence and core strength. High Hips was also formed because of public request.
“If there is enough interest in High Hips, we may put it on the schedule after fall break,” Pennington said. The fitness schedule is effective until after fall break.
“If anyone has any requests, I’ll try to accommodate. You can contact me at 931-372-6210,” Pennington said.
