This college football season has been one of the craziest in recent memory with players already opting out of the remainder of the season, the new conference realignments and 12-team playoff shaking everything up, and not to mention all of the upsets that have already happened through the first half of the year.
This week appears to be trending in that same direction of crazy as we have a few generational matchups in line. I will try my best to make predictions of this week’s games in one of the most unpredictable college football seasons in the sport’s recent history.
LSU at Arkansas
This game will likely depend pretty heavily on Taylen Green’s availability and how healthy he feels. If Arkansas can execute offensively and not turn the ball over like they did against Tennessee, I could see them pulling off another upset. However, Brian Kelly proved last week against Ole Miss that he is still a good coach. Give me the Tigers on the road. Prediction: LSU 31 Arkansas 27
Miami at Louisville
Miami is lucky to be undefeated right now, but I have to admit, Cam Ward can play some football. I’m tempted to pick the Canes because they’ve found ways to win so far, but I’m taking the Cardinals in an upset in this one. Prediction: Louisville 42 Miami 41
Michigan at Illinois
The question to this game to me is simple: will Michigan be able to win the game by only running the football? They’ve done it once this season already, can they do it again? I say no sir. Give me Luke Altmeyer and the Fighting Illini. Prediction: Illinois 28 Michigan 21
Alabama at Tennessee
These two teams are pretty similar in my opinion. They both have one loss so far and are fighting for a playoff spot. Tennessee is at home, which will help tremendously, but I think Jalen Milroe and the Tide provide too many mismatches for the Vols and their young quarterback. Prediction: Alabama 27 Tennessee 17
Georgia at Texas
This game has the potential to match the excitement of the Georgia-Alabama game earlier in the year. If Georgia was to win this game, the SEC would get absolutely turned upside down; I mean just imagine if that were to happen…heck, give me the Dawgs, why not? Prediction: Georgia 38 Texas 34
This weekend of college football will undoubtedly have playoff implications throughout the entire day on Saturday. As a fan, it just doesn’t get any better than this. This is the week where we truly find out the hierarchy of the SEC, as well as some other teams in different conferences getting their playoff expectations tested. Regardless of the outcome, what a week for college football; I cannot wait to see it all unfold.
